MYK Laticrete SP-100 is a premium, 100% solid epoxy grout widely considered the industry standard in India for residential and commercial tiling. Unlike traditional cement-based grouts, it does not absorb water, resist stains completely, and prevents bacterial growth.
There are three primary variants in the SP-100 lineup depending on your application requirements:
1. The SP-100 Product Variants
SP-100 Tile Joint (The Classic 3-Part Kit): The traditional standard. It comes as a component kit containing Part A (Hardener), Part B (Resin), and Part C (Colored Filler Powder). It is highly chemical resistant and ideal for heavy-use indoor areas.
SP-100 DUO (2-Part Kit): A newer formula that removes the need for separate powder mixing. It features enhanced UV resistance, making it the best option for outdoor balconies, terraces, and swimming pools exposed to sunlight.
SP-100 UNO (Ready-to-Use): A single-component dispersion grout that requires zero mixing. It comes pre-blended in a pail and can be used directly for interior walls and floors (ideal for quick touch-ups or smaller DIY projects).
Key Features & Benefits
100% Stainfree: It resists everyday household stains like turmeric (haldi), tea, coffee, wine, oils, and grease.
Waterproof & Germ-Resistant: Because it is completely non-porous, it prevents water seepage, making it perfect for bathrooms, showers, and swimming pools. It is also anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.
Food Grade Certified: CFTRI certified, meaning it is completely safe to use on kitchen countertops, restaurant pantries, and dining areas.
High Strength: It won't crack, powder, or erode over time, boasting a compressive strength of over 7,000 PSI when fully cured.
Estimating Coverage & Packaging
The amount of grout you need depends entirely on your tile dimensions, tile thickness, and joint width.
Standard Packaging Units:
1/5th Unit: ~1 kg kit
1 Full Unit: ~5 kg bucket
Double Unit: ~10 kg bucket
Approximate Coverage (for a 5kg/10kg setup):
For large 600mm x 600mm (2x2 ft) vitrified floor tiles with a standard 2mm joint width, a 10 kg package covers roughly 1,174 sq. ft.
For smaller wall tiles like 300mm x 300mm (1x1 ft) with a 2mm joint, a 10 kg package covers roughly 788 sq. ft.
(Note: It is wise to subtract 10% to 15% from typical charts to account for site wastage and clean-up).
Critical Application Tips (For Contractors or DIY)
Work in Small Batches (Pot Life): Once Parts A and B are mixed, the grout has a working pot life of about 45 minutes. Do not mix more than you can apply and clean within this timeframe.
The Drop Cloth Rule: Immediately empty the mixed contents out of the bucket onto a plastic drop cloth or the floor. Leaving it sitting in a bulk mass inside the bucket accelerates the chemical reaction, causing it to harden much faster.
Strict Timed Clean-Up: You must perform the initial wash with a scrubber and clean water within 30 to 45 minutes of application. If epoxy grout residue dries completely on the face of the tile, it forms a permanent "haze" that is incredibly difficult to remove without harsh chemicals.
Cure Time: Keep the area free of foot traffic for at least 24 hours. Full chemical and heavy traffic cure takes roughly 3 to 7 days.
